社工職責
社工 Social Worker的主要職責是評估個人、家庭、特定群體的社會需求，並協助他們通過學習技能、獲得相關支持等方式，來解決他們生活中的問題，改善他們的生活，使他們獲得更好發展。
就業方向
社工在醫療健康領域就業面很廣，比如像是健康服務、老人照護、婦女服務、殘障服務、兒童家庭服務、國際發展、移民和難民服務、社區工作、個人及家庭協調、團體工作、政策發展、倡導研究機構等都需要社工。根據澳洲政府Labour Market Insights的數據，社工平均週薪可達$1736澳幣。
移民機會
社工是澳洲中長期移民清單上的移民專業，在澳洲移民局公佈的2022年12月邀請數據中，社工以65分的基本分即可獲邀189獨立技術移民。除了獨立技術移民外，各州的州政府也為社工提供190州擔保等移民機會。
社工是澳洲健康領域不可或缺的人才，並且用人需求也日漸增大，如今，越來越多的國際學生也加入了澳洲社工的行業中，他們中的絕大部分都是通過攻讀澳洲的社工專業，在畢業後成為一名合格的澳洲社工的。
移民職業評估機構
移民職業評估機構Australia Association of Social Workers（AASW）
職業評估學歷要求
完成AASW認可的Social Work專業學習，學習期間至少有2個不同的實習，實習時間至少980個小時。
職業評估英語要求
過去三年內的雅思A類總分7，單項不低於7（可以是六個月內的兩次雅思考試成績拼分，但兩次總分均不能低於7，且每個單項不低於6.5）以下情況有機會豁免雅思要求（*但AASW依然有權要求滿足豁免條件的申請人提供雅思成績）：
- 在澳洲/加拿大/紐西蘭/愛爾蘭/南非/英國/美國完成英文授課高中；且
- 在上述國家完成三年制英文授課學士或以上學位
AASW認證課程
國際學生想要成為澳洲合格社工，需要在澳洲的大學里學習社工學士或碩士課程。在社工專業的學習中，你將會學到相關的理論知識與實踐知識。理論知識包括澳洲社工的工作內容、行為準則、溝通方式、案例分析、瞭解澳洲健康福利體系、瞭解澳洲不同的群體所面臨的問題以及如何幫助他們等等。在實踐方面，學生需要在學校的安排下到不同的健康福利機構或社工機構進行規定時長的實習。

社工碩士
社工碩士通常為兩年，適合已經完成一個學士，研究生想轉換跑道讀社工專業的學生。

注意：大部分社工碩士需要申請人學士有至少一年人文社科的學習。有的學校對此背景要求較為寬鬆，有的學校則較為嚴格。對於是否能滿足此背景要求取決於學校審核。如果學生無法滿足此背景要求，部分學校提供短期銜接課程，可以彌補人文社科背景的不足。社工專業的英文要求比別的專業相對較高，但如果已經在英文國家完成一定的學習，有機會豁免雅思要求。
